Project #3

Three Questions I would ask during an interview:

  1. Are there usually any high stress situations/are you looking for skills to handle them?
  2. How would you describe this work setting?
  3. Is there a possibility to grow within the company?

Three Questions they might ask me:

  1. What characteristics do you have that fit what we are looking for?
  2. Do you have strong problem solving skills/ can you handle pressure?
  3. Explain why we should hire you

Three Big Moments

During my high school I was vice president of our integrated sports club, in which we had students, athletes or not, help other special needs students play games like basketball and soccer. Through this I had to coordinate with other schools to play games and ensure transportation. I was also a part of our rotary club and even traveled to Ecuador in South America to work with a small towns rotary club and help their community. This truly gave me a sense of responsibility and leadership along with giving me the opportunity to work with a variety of different people.

My grandparents own a bakery in my small little beach town in Connecticut. During the summer, it gets completely overrun by people and in turn, so does the bakery. While I’m home I love to help them out by working and managing the bakery. This came with being in stressful situations like having to answer a phone, taking food and dessert orders, cashing people out and helping in the kitchen all at the same time while having a million people in and out the door. I usually would get overwhelmed in a situation like that before working there, and this taught me that I can handle these kinds of situations and that I can handle them well. I also had to schedule people and had to be in very clear communication about when people could or couldn’t work so that we were never short. Making sure people were fairly scheduled was hard.

Lastly, I would like to talk about the 3 years I was a CCD (Sunday school) teacher in high school of 5th and 3rd graders. Being so young and having to manage a classroom of kids I was only 6-8 years older was way harder than I thought it was going to be. I had to learn a whole different kind of patience for kids which was hard because I was still one myself. Taking the time to learn from my kids and making my learning environment work for them and communicating ultimately led to us having a great year together.

Opinions on the Sample Job Description

  1. Overall very vague, especially the duties I feel like those should be expanded on since that’s what you’re going to be doing, simple word choices, not really attention grabbing or welcoming intro.
  2. I like that they have separated the required key competencies and the preferred, giving a clear idea of what they want.
  3. Most definitely needs a DEI statement working with students and teachers.
